Painting at Rockabye Ridge

PAINTING IN THE PASTURE

Saturday, August 3, 1 to 4 pm

Enjoy a summer afternoon watercolor painting at Rockabye Ridge! We'll paint outside with adorable sheep, colorful chickens and tranquil vistas. If skies bring rain, we'll paint inside with a collection of Rockabye Ridge photos. All levels welcome (already have supplies for acrylic or oil? Feel free to use those instead). After starting with basics and a short demo, we’ll get to work on your individual painting on location. The $60 workshop fee includes instruction, quality watercolor paper and paint. Directions and a short materials list will follow for other items to bring. Please register at rockabyeridge@gmail.com

WATERCOLOR TECHNIQUES

Mondays, 6:30 - 9 pm, Sept. 23 through Oct. 28 at the Flower City Arts Center, 713 Monroe Ave, Rochester

Take your watercolor paintings to the next level or learn the basics. We’ll cover how to plan and create the paintings you want to paint, whether they are still life, landscape or another subject. In this 6-week class we will have demos and exercises, then apply those lessons to your individual paintings. Learn how glazing (painting layers) can make your paintings glow. We’ll also cover color mixing, managing flat washes as well as how to achieve hard and soft effects.

Watercolor paper is included but you will need to supply your own materials otherwise. A materials list will be sent out ahead of the class. Register through Flower City Arts Center. Cost $195
